Weigh in Wednesday

Well, it has officially happened ONCE again!!!! No results this week!!! I stayed exactly the same.. no pounds lost and strangely no inch loss. I am just trying to rest in the fact that I am in a plateau right now... Please don't let my lack of results lately discourage any of you in any way.. as I have said before.. the most important for me is that I feel healthy.. better than I have in years.. my moods are better.. my outlook is better..and I have so much more energy.. Perhaps for me.. it will take a bit longer than I had PLANNED lol to lose the weight. I will say once again there is no way on earth I will go back wards.. I will just keep trudging through with the confidence that my body will readjust itself.. :)

Magic Flower Seeds!

Recently my Mother In Law sent a package for my kids of clothes and toys. One of the neat things she added to the box was this little green house planting kit for kids. It looks like it might of come from Target but I am not sure. It comes with 6 mini plastic pots, 6 round disks of dirt, and two bags of seeds. You insert the round disk in each pot, add a little water then let the dirt expand for about 5 minutes. Then comes the seeds. You just dig a tiny hole and add several seeds cover it back up water a tiny bit then put the green house cover on. My son and I worked on this project this last Sunday and I am telling you the next day there were already sprouts. Now its Wednesday, going on 4 days since planting and look how big these little flower plants are!!! I swear they are magic seeds hahah.

The reason this works for because my almost 4 year old is VERY impatient.. and he has been waiting for the plants he and I had planted 3 weeks ago or so to sprout...and just now are we finally seeing a tiny little green "thing" pop up...but planting with this green house has brought nearly instant results!! He is so thrilled. He keeps saying "look at what I did" haha.

Rewarded with smiles...

Tuesday was doctor day! Time to take the kids in for a check up. My daughter is 6 months old, and my son nearly 4. This was my son's first time to visit this doctor since we made our big move from CA last year. I was a bit nervous of how he would react to the doctor. But my bit of anxiety was not necessary, seeing that he did everything that was asked of him. He climbed onto the exam table and laid down flat, to the amusement of the doctor. He took his little visit very seriously. My little guy sat so still when the nurse administered the hearing test. I think he was a little embarrassed, as I kept seeing a small smile start at the corner of his lips then quickly fade. When the nurse handed him the mystery flavored lolipop as his small reward, he couldn't hold back his smile looking up at me quickly as if to get permission to tear the wrapper off.. lol (of course I let him have it..even though we hadn't had dinner yet lol) It is so funny, how one minute my son, can be so naughty.. then the next minute be the sweetest thing... lol

My little girl was poked, prodded, weighed, and measured.. Of course she wasn't too thrilled, but all in all my kids came out with a clean bill of health. "They look great!" our doctor said. I can't say that I was shocked at her statement, but a small part of me was quietly relieved.

After reading this blog called Bring the Rain, I quickly started taking inventory of my blessings.. Realizing that a healthy family, healthy beautiful children, are definitely a blessing from the Lord worth taking note of...

Homemade Father's Day...

Try not to laugh too hard lol but this was my attempt last week at a homemade Father's Day! Instead of stressing myself out with trying to decide which gift my husband would like, I decided to try some some handmade things. So my 3 1/2 year old son and I attempted to do the handprints lol Here is the recipe. I am sure with practice they will look a little better. We also made a photo cube, and I painstakingly sewed by hand (mine you), a rice pillow. I can't sew worth anything LOL It took me HOURS. Anyhow, my husband seemed very happy with our homemade gesture. (at least he said he took them to work for his office lol).

Weigh in Wednesday

Only 1 lb again this week!!!! grrr... Well, I hit my 25 lb loss mark!! So I am thrilled about that. I hope everyone is doing well with following their eating plans and exercising!!! This particular program that I am doing the Carb Addict "diet" talks about hitting plateaus and how usually there is a reason. Perhaps I am eating something during the day that is triggering my insulin release prematurely.. Something like a sweet n' low in my coffee could be causing this.. which in turn can slow or stop weight loss.. grrrrr.. lol So this week.. I am going to eliminate the sweetner, and really watch my dinner to make sure it is no longer than an hour. Even a few minutes past the hour makes a difference! If you aren't familiar with the Carb Addict "diet" you probably think I am nuts lol I have to say this diet makes sense and its the only one that has ever worked for me. So please go read about it and form your own opinions. Until next week...

Organized Pantry reduces stress!! lol

Last week I posted about "stocking up" food. My pantry went thru a complete overhaul this last week... Here are my before and after pictures haha. Notice the colored buckets at the bottom. Those are paint buckets I bought at Walmart for under 4 dollars a piece. They come with sealed lids. In three of the smaller buckets I was able to fit 25 lbs of sugar, 25 lbs of rice, 25 lbs of brown sugar, and the slightly larger bucket I fit I think closer to 30 plus lbs of flour. However, I need an additional bucket for my flour considering I bought a 50lb bag of flour hahah. I feel pretty good with having "extra" food staples on hand, and a ORGANIZED pantry!!!

I am getting there... even if its 1 lb at a time. I have been exercising aoubt 75-100 minutes a day with Treadmill and stationary bike and stretch bands. You would think with so much exercise that I would see better results.. Perhaps, I will once again try and change things up..

Is it just me or are food prices getting HIGHER??

I have to say, that with the gas prices on the rise, and the food prices slowly creeping up...I have begun to think about being more prepared for my family. So today, my husband and I (& kids lol) went to Costco, for a STOCKPILE trip lol I bought 50lbs of Flour, 25 lbs of Rice, 25 lbs of White Sugar, 25lbs of Brown Sugar, and a huge jug of Vinegar, Plus other things that were not really considered stock-up items lol. I thought at first my husband would think I was nuts.. haha but thankfully he was on board!! So my next project is to get some big containers and properly store all this STUFF! Have you noticed prices going up in the grocery stores? A few things I have noticed in the last 2 weeks...

Eggs - Up a dollar
Cheese - Up a dollar plus
Crisco Butter Shortening (My favorite) - I usually paid 3 dollars its up to 4.97 a can.

Those are just a few things... Are you getting your family prepared??? Next thing I need to do is stock up on water... and medicines ect.. You know its rather funny in a strange way..because if you would of told me a year ago that I would be doing this kind of thing.. I would of told you were NUTS! lol Oh brother, I just remembered that I neglected to buy Powdered Milk.. one thing I heard was a must have stockpile item (lol).

Anyhow.. this works for me now..and hopefully will work for me.. later down the road.. that's hoping I can properly seal all the containers lol

"My God is So Big, So Strong and So Mighty..."

"there's nothing My God cannot do"

A little late in getting my post out this weekend for Works of God Weekend...

Sometimes we categorize who God is... Let me explain... I have heard many times people say "Oh I can't bother God with my little problem. He has too much to worry about" or "God doesn't care about the little things". I have to say that I completely disagree with both of those statements. I do believe God cares.. I do believe God is in the details of our lives. The Bible says that He knows how many hairs are on our heads(Matthew 10:30 "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered"), He knows the stars by names, He knows how many grains of sand there are on the beaches, He knows when a sparrow falls from the tree... Well, to me that is a God who cares about us.. Who cares if we didn't get enough sleep, who cares if we are overwhelmed, who cares if we are struggling...

I say all of that... as an introduction to my small little blessing this week lol I wrote a couple of days ago about how I found all the furniture ect... for FREE in our neighbors driveway. lol I happen to think its a pretty neat blessing.. because the dresser/cabinet we found was exactly what we had been looking for .. for our little baby girls room. I had also been wanting an easel for my son but just didn't make it priority and wah la.. God provides.. You know God really is Good! This week I had been a little discouraged.. with all the talk of war..and the possibilities of this or that.. in our country, and the rising prices of everything.. Sometimes it takes a little blessing.. to bring us back.. to bring us back to thankfulness. :)

Better than a Garage Sale...

I have said many times how my husband and I are the WORST pair to attempt garage sale shopping lol. Mainly because we are both so embarrassed. We usually try to
drive by kind of slow to do the "drive by" where you lean towards the garage sale to see if its interesting..then if not you can speed off lol

Well, yesterday we were getting ready to leave for a evening of some shopping..and I happen to noticed my neighbor (whom had moved out about 3 weeks ago) had this huge pile of stuff on the drive way. With signs that said "FREE"!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you what treasures we found. A large off white Dresser with matching side table, a nice easel, banquet table, frame, 2 other shelves, big flower pot, chess set, plastic drawers, 3 lawn chairs.... We were a little embarrassed.. to bring all this stuff over to our house but it did say FREE hahahahah :)

Talk about FRUGAL lol

Thanks everyone who participated in my first giveaway! Be sure to check back for my next one! :)

Weigh in Wednesday

Woooo Hoooo.. finally lol I am so happy to have lost something this week!!! I will tell you that I completely reevaluated everything that I was doing, and realized that walking 30 minutes everyday on the treadmill wasn't cutting it anymore, so this last week I bumped it up big time for me. I averaged about 75 to 100 minutes of exercise everyday. Treadmill for 30 min, stationary bike for 30 min, stretch bands 15 min, and hand weights for 10 min every other day. My body evidently needs to be pushed a bit harder.

I realize now, that most do not want to openly do the weight challenge with me lol and thats perfectly fine.. I will still keep putting Mr Linky up though.. lol in case you want to participate. :)

Are you really bored? or is it just your 'imagination'?

Since my children are 3 1/2 years old and 6 months.. I don't just deal with the "Mommy, I am bored" in the summer.. I deal with it 365 days of the year!!!! Every single day, I am trying to come up with new activities for my VERY active son. He loves to be involved in anything that makes him feel like a big boy. lol

It is so interesting to me how times have changed. When I was young, the phrase "I'm Bored" was basically band from our home. I grew up with 7 brothers and sisters, and my parents felt there was not a reason in the world why we couldn't find something to do. I think we actually had imaginations those even exist anymore???

Today, I printed out 30 different named objects in our home, cut them out, attached tape, and allowed him to put them on the proper things. He was sooo excited! He would run to me and say "Mom, what does C-O-U-C-H say?" lol Now tomorrow there is no way I could repeat this activity, because in his little mind we already did it and now its boring!!!!!

So from, play dough, to water balloons, to baking, to painting (which we also did today and he decided to swipe the GREEN filled paint brush onto the carpet grrr), to playing his Leap Frog learning game, to trying to figure out how to play monopoly, teaching him to help me clean, and help his little mind grow with knowledge, teach him to love the Lord, and hopefully bring back after all that - well I am PLUM out of ideas lol

I am terribly anxious to read every one's ideas at Works for Me Wednesday to add to my measly list! lol

"Seeing" the Benefits of Great Eyesight!

For the past few months, my husband has been talking about having the eye lasik procedure. Evidently, a co-worker of his recently had this procedure, and raves about his perfect eye sight on a daily basis, sparking this new obsession in my husband to have the Lasik procedure done for himself! It seems more and more he is toting his glasses from the office to home, from the living room to the kitchen..relying more and more on his spectacles.

I personally have been a little worried about him getting the surgery.. You hear a lot of things.. good and bad.. The more research we have done on the Laser Eye surgery, the better we feel about going through with this life changing decision. Then there is the issue of choosing a doctor. One that was recommended to us is reputable company called LaserVue. All the LaserVue Lasik Doctors have done a total of 25,000 surgeries that is reassuring! My husband and I have talked about the cost..and weighing the pros and cons in having this procedure. We decided if we didn't want to pay the entire amount up front we could have the procedure financed. LaserVue offers a great financing program that you can apply with online in private, and have as little as $60/month payments. My husband is adamant in finding a reliable doctor, one he feels comfortable with. There are thousands of different companies to choose from, trying to decide which one is usually proven the most difficult, so it is so nice to receive a great recommendation for the LaserVue company. LaserVue has many different locations in California such as the Lasik in Walnut Creek.

I don't know about you, but I am definitely tired of asking my husband if I look good in this outfit, or if he could take a look at something on the computer, and I am greeted with SQUINTS!!! That prompts me to remind him to put his glasses on! Having the eye lasik surgery would be a huge blessing, not only for him but for our family!

We are definitely going to look more into LaserVue. I need my husband healthy and seeing GREAT!

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
