Aloha Friday

An Island Life is hosting Aloha Friday.. I thought it would be fun to participate. All you have to do is answer the question I ask by leaving a comment. Then click over to An Island Life and link up to Aloha Friday with your own question!

An Island Life Question was: What is the oldest piece of clothing you own?

My Answer: I have a blue dress that I wore when I was 7. My
mother gave it to me when we lived in the Philippines as Missionaries.

My Question for you is: What is your favorite mini dessert? (i.e. homemade candy or small cakes) I am asking because, I am helping with my sisters wedding reception and I need dessert ideas for a buffet!

I love to put phyllo dough in mini-muffin tins and then add an orange cheesecake filling, topped with a bit of orange preserves! SO yummy!

I love jelly belly beans.
I went to a wedding reception that had a candy bar. There was a huge table set up like an old fashioned candy store. The wedding colors were pink and large jars were filled with every kind of pink candy available. Guest would fill their dessert plates with their hearts delight. Licorice, jelly beans, chocolate...
Of course there was the wedding cake too!

I love Bon Bon Cookies. A simple dough filled with any kind of candy or cherry and made pretty on top. Yummy and easy to make.

Have a great weekend!

Dirt cake, lol. But I don't know if it would be acceptable at a wedding. Although you could dress it up by serving it in little clay flower pots with a flower in it. You could find some artificial flowers the same as in the brides bouquet to put in there.

I'm all about cookies, chocolate chips or snickerdoodles to be exact! Also, I love chewy cake. I wish I had the recipe because it is so yummy. It's basically a blonde brownie.

I'm such a traditionalist, my first thoughts are cookies and cupcakes, but for a wedding you might want more fancy - what about mini cheesecakes with cherry pie filling to top?

Oooh too many to choose from! For the wedding I love strawberries covered in dark chocolate and white chocolate...or the tuxedo looking strawberries, with both!

I have a couple of recipes that are so simple and small individuals and can be altered to whatever flavors you'd like. Black Forest Cups and Peanut Butter Cup Clusters.

Good luck with the wedding and reception.

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
