Aloha Friday

An Island Life is hosting Aloha Friday.. I thought it would be fun to participate. All you have to do is answer the question I ask by leaving a comment. Then click over to An Island Life and link up to Aloha Friday with your own question!

An Island Life asked this Question:

How does your family celebrate Halloween?

My Answer is:

At this point we have no plans. However, if it is a repeat of last year...we will keep most of the lights off..and peer thru the windows into the shadowy streets watching all the kids go by in their costumes lol I might have to encourage my hubby to take us out for the evening!

My Question for you is: (Get Ready its deep! lol)

Do you believe that the people and things you associate yourself with reflect who you are or define your character?

I personally think that everything you do in life is a reflection of who you are or who you are striving to be.  You can't repeatedly go to and ice cream shop every Friday and then someone says to you .."you must love ice cream" and you say "oh no what makes you say that.  just because i go there has nothing to do with my liking ice cream.  in fact I don't ever taste the stuff.  I go there to watch others eat ice cream."  lol  I know kind of a dumb illustration buttttt I think the point is somewhere in there.

My daughter will be dressing up and I will be also, we are going to my grandmother's at her assisted living home where they will have a party. Then off to a few relatives houses.
Stop by my Aloha Friday for a Halloween question, no candy needed!

I think that bits and pieces of us show in the people and things that we associate with each day. If it were not for these items we would not be able to see some of the personality of us come out.

We trick-or -treat with the kids and then a scary movie with popcorn. :)

Happy Aloha friday!

it can't be just a person's association that defines his character. at most i think, what define a person are those that he has control of.

some of our associations are beyond our control. i think how we manage ourselves around those associations and whatever comes our way and how we deal with them best define our character.

the people you associate with does not necessarily reflect who you are or define your character, but it will definitely have an effect on you.

The thing you associate yourself with will have a little reflection of you but not totally.

I think my answer is clear as mud - anyway, happy Aloha Friday :)

Yes! I do think that who you associate with and the things you do reflect who you are and what your values are.

I'm also trying the weight loss thing AGAIN, and have tried publicly shaming myself on my blog as motivation---it will be fun to follow your journey as well, and be inspired!!!

Nah, for me, not so much. I talk to a bunch of different personalities (friends). Everyone unique. None of them rub off on me, nor I on them.

Sometimes 'sayings or mannerisms' may, but that's about it.

Hmmm sort of, kind of. But I also believe it is HOW we associate with the people we come in contact with...will we choose to be salt and light or will we choose to surround ourselves where we feel comfortable and safe? I purposely try and involve myself where I come into contact with people different from me so that I can be salt and light. If I don't, then how can I share?

Oh I most certainly do and your example was a good one...got the point right on across.:)

For good or bad, the people we associate with are those we become friends with and those we become most like. Now it can and often does work the other way as well...they pick up on our mannerisms, lingo, way of being as well. Our choice if it is good or not so much.:)

I think that they people I associate with are a bit of a reflection of who I am...but they don't define me.

I believe it doesn't necessarily define WHO you are, just part of the whole..

The ice cream illustration fro example... the answer was no, but it's the wrong question... you know what I mean? If you were asked if you like to sit there and watch people eat? now we're getting somewhere.. lol

I don't know that they define me but then can be some sort of reflection of who I am.

We usually have a Halloween party in our village clubhouse then we go trick or treating around the village.

That is a pretty deep question. I would say yes who we associate with and the things we do in our lives reflect a lot of who we are. Sometimes I think we hide some of that true self from others but for the most part a lot of it does reflect from day to day.

Absolutely.

Yes, I think that our actions reflect a lot about what we are inside. We show our attitude, likes, dislikes, interests, and more through our actions.

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
