I really love having these Sugar-Free Drink Mixes on hand. I found them at Walmart and they are under 2 dollars. The nice thing about these individual 2 quart dry mixes is.. you can make yourself a little cup or 1/2 a gallon. Of course the great thing is they are Sugar-Free. They are easy to carry with you too. I find it much easier to keep these little dry mixes on hand then having to keep big gallons of juice that sit in the refrigerator and go to waste!
Did I mention "O" calories??

Maybe recipes like this is why you are needing to lose weight? Just a thought."
I was thinking does this "Anonymous" Person really think they shed a light on my weight gain? lol I told my husband.. and he thought that was really awful and pathetic of some one to say that.
Listen, I do not think I am right about everything at all. And I do want anyone who wants to be able to share their opinions as long as it is done kindly. This comment was uncalled for and unnecessary. Things like that only tear down people not help. I wasn't mad actually when I read the comment, it made me a little sad and sick to my stomach. I am really trying so hard to lose weight.. If I post a recipe for triple chocolate cake with 10 candy bars melted on top...don't assume that I ate the whole thing. Goodness, lol
Words are very powerful.. and cannot be taken back.
Am I over reacting? ( lol maybe I don't want to know)

mother gave it to me when we lived in the Philippines as Missionaries.

I recently read a post on a blog that I came across randomly. The main idea of the post was that women as a whole..godly women should please their husbands in all ways out of respect and duty. The post went on to back this idea up with scripture. After saying that as a woman a wife we are the one person that can meet our husbands needs she quotes:
10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
| Deep-Fried Beef Chimichangas |
For the chimichangas:
12 large flour tortillas
1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 liter vegetable or canola oil
For the ground beef filling:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large red onion, sliced
3 pounds ground beef
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
4 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons celery salt
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Special equipment: Wooden skewers or round toothpicks
Lay out tortillas and sprinkle about 1/8 cup cheese on each. Begin heating vegetable oil to 350 degrees F in deep-fryer.
In a large skillet heat olive oil over medium-high heat and saute onion until translucent. To this pan, add ground beef, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, celery salt, and salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Divide meat mixture into equal amounts in the pan. Then using a slotted spoon to leave excess liquid behind, transfer meat mixture to the center of each tortilla and fold the tortilla into a closed packet and secure using a wooden skewer or round toothpicks. Deep fry chimichangas until golden brown. (Alternatively, you can skip the deep frying step altogether by arranging the chimichanga packets on a baking sheet and bake until cheese melts and tortillas begin to firm up, about 5 to 10 minutes in a preheated 350 degrees F oven.) Remove skewers/toothpicks before serving.
This recipe is so incredible. I saw this on the food channel. It looks difficult at first..but it didn't take me long at all. I actually did not have tomato paste on hand grrrr so I substituted Tomato Sauce instead. Turned out just fine. As you can see, I topped it off with Sour Cream, Salsa, and Green Jalapeno sauce, and a side of beans. My husband said that he could hardly eat two because they were so filling. This is now going to be on my permanent "have to make" list. lol

An Island Life Question today is: Who knows you better than anyone else?
My Answer: My sister and my husband.
My Question for you is:
After you leave a comment, head over to An Island Life!
I changed my blog!!! Hope the pattern doesn't drive you crazy!
Yesterday, I was watching the news off and on through out the day, to my shock (not really) the talk of economic disaster was brought up over and over. I heard things like "It will be a miracle if we recover from this one" or "This is the worst financial downfall in our nation's history" or this one was nice "There are things happening faster than we can report them". Message of real hope eh?
The Banks, Insurance Companies, Investment and Mortgage Companies seemed to be crumbling on top of one another. What is going on?? Wamu put itself up for Auction today. Morgan Stanley and Wachovia are considering a merger, ect..
The Government is picking and choosing whom they will bail out?! AIG was loaned 85 Billion dollars??? Then you hear that the Federal Reserve needs to be refilled most likely by our taxes!!
Of course my darling husband thinks everything is a conspiracy lol I don't know.. I mean it certainly is cause for concern. For us all to really stop and think. Take inventory of our families, our homes.
What is your opinion on the current state of events? Are you worried? Are you stuffing your mattresses with your savings yet? Is it time to sell all your gold jewelry? lol (Gold closed at 85 dollars an ounce today)

Everywhere I look, people are trying to save money. Whether its TV programs offering this or that. Or women going nuts over a $1.00 Cereal Coupon. I think we are receptive more than ever for help. Bills.com is a great place to start if you are dealing with Debt management or facing mortgage problems. I don't think there are many people who aren't affected in some way.
Bills.com offers great advice. Their opinion in most cases of debt is to obtain a Debt Consolidation Loan, and pay off your debts, leaving you with just one debt on your credit report. Yes, you still are required to pay your debts, but your payments will more manageable and your credit score will respond positively to this option. It is so much easier to consolidate debt then to have a million bills, or creditors calling you every minute of the day.
From Insurance questions, to debt help, mortgage, billpay, loans, and credit questions, bills.com seem to have a vast amount of suggestions and answers to questions of these topics. Bills.com suggests not to be late on a payment, don't use anymore credit cards then necessary, budget, and most of all Save Save Save! Don't let your bills pile up. Things are too uncertain right now. How nice it would be to remove a little stress by getting some questions answered and possibly your debts on their way to fixable solution.
What can I say????? NO GAIN NO LOSS!!!!! This is driving me nuts!!! Last night "The Biggest Loser" started. I am soooooo happy for this renewed motivation. I can't quite put my finger on why I am not losing. Its ridiculous...!! lol
Hope you had better "luck" than I!!!!!
(Tomorrow is Soap Box Thursday! Don't forget to Comment your "story" or link up to my blog tomorrow)
I think it was last month or so that we had the Bloggy Carnival. One of the things I won was a gift certificate from Sweet Hollow Farms. I ordered shampoo bar soap and lavender salve for headaches, and a bar of body soap.
I will say I was terribly hesitant to try the Shampoo Bar Soap. There is no way that could work on my hair haha. I have always been very particular about what I use on my hair. The first couple of days I wasn't impressed to be honest. However, after a week or so..it seems my hair became used to the soap and started to feel softer and look better. I have longer hair so I have always used heaps of conditioner, but I have found with this bar I don't need to at all! If you keep it out of water the bar will actually last a long time.
I definitely recommend this Shampoo Bar Soap!

My Answer is:
Probably More Present, but a little of all three. Being a Mother, most days I am just trying to make it until my husband comes home lol. When I have time to think, I think of the future and then glance to the Past. The Future is so unknown and unsettled these days with the world I find myself often dwelling more on now..and perhaps as far as next week.
I will Vote for what is right most definitely, that is always first and foremost no matter which side of the aisle the candidates sit. However, in this coming election I won't have to cross party lines lol

they fall down? Why did the planes hit them?" Naturally, with one answered question comes the rapid fire of 100 more curious ones.
I decided not to go into detail and scare him. He is a smart little guy. He really seems to think and analyze things..so I thought it best not to explain about terrorist ect.
I thought wow.. you know, this is something in history now. This day is sketched deep in the veins of America now. We will be forced to remember to tell our children and our grandchildren what "we" remember about that day.
We have so much to be thankful for.. We live in a country that is free.. that was founded on Biblical principals. I understand that we have strayed far from our foundation, and that times it feels like the United States will just explode with all its corruption, however, when I realize how God has continued to bless our country in spite of.. I realize how truly grateful I should be.
We need to give the Men and Women in the Military our respect our gratitude. Nothing is more infuriating when the media, the politicians, the protesters belittle our troops. To destroy their spirits and hope. Think of it this way.. Would you be willing to fight for your own freedom...for your neighbors?
We need to pray for our country. Pray for our President. Pray for this election.

I normally wouldn't put a video of my son, but I thought it was so cute and went well with my theme today.
I heard one of the most recent things being tossed around between the Democrat and Republican parties was that Sarah Palin's only qualification for VP was that she hadn't had an abortion! I don't think it matters which side of the political party you hail from to make a statement like that about anyone is pretty awful. I realize things will only get worse.. I'd so much rather deal with the facts. If you are a liar... then you are a liar.. you know? If you are a thief then you are a thief! If you took ear marks then you took ear marks.. I just don't get all this rhetoric! It drives me bonkers!
I will admit that I am an avid Fox News Fan lol I know I know I can hear the "boos" lol Which I do believe is where my four year old is getting his opinions on politics! lol I really try to stay up on the current events, and try to follow where this crazy election process is going.
It doesn't seem like we get anywhere with all this back and forth stuff.. or as I like to refer to the "ping pong" effect. You know when you argue with your husband and you say "Why don't you pick up your clothes?" and he says "Why aren't the dishes done?" lol That's the ping pong effect. I hate it!!! lol
I am interested in the candidates! I am interested in who they are as a person..and where they stand on every issue. I do believe what you do behind closed doors will eventually affect what you do openly. I have heard some of the ladies on The View say the opposite. That they feel it doesn't matter what you do behind closed doors, i.e. an affair ect.. it doesn't affect what you do professionally. Oh how wrong that is!!! Perhaps in the beginning you can get away with your "secrets" but they always come out... in some way or another.
What made me put my son's video clip up? Well I started thinking.. his little mind of course cannot grasp the whole idea of politics..and all the cheating, lying, ect.. He thinks of it as 'this' or 'that'. It's very simple to him. He chooses John McCain and Sarah Palin lol It is so important we have someone in the White House, who has our best interest in mind. Who will take care of this country and the future of our kids.. Everything they see.. everything they hear and witness, molds and shapes them into who they will be one day.
Voting in November is not just for our peace of mind but for our children's future...
I love comments!!! So please feel free to leave on or link your Soap Box Story up with Mr Linky below! (keep it clean pleaseeee)

My younger sister has introduced me to a series of books that I cannot put down. At first, I made fun of her terribly because all she was doing was obsessively reading at every waking moment. Then I began to read...and now I cannot put the books down. The first of the four books is called Twilight by Stephenie Meyers. I normally read only christian novels, but this one, well there is just something very captivating by it. Something emotional and quite spellbinding. I am nearly finished with the 3rd book...sad and excited to start the final book. I just found out that they have made a movie from Book One "Twilight". It comes out November 21st.
I recommend this book!!! Probably one of the best that I have read in a long time.

I am most looking forward to Greys Anatomy and Lost!!
Ok Here is my question for you:Do you think Diet Soda is worse to drink then full strength regular Soda?
I neglected to put my answer to my own question down lol I Think they both are bad lol I was drinking diet soda well more than one a day for a while until I started having stomach cramps ect.. The day I stopped the diet soda is the day my stomach cramps stopped. So I try not to drink the diet. But then the Regular has the high fructose corn syrup YUCK. They taste soooo good though. I wonder if Hansen soda is healthier?

Last week we left for a weekend getaway. Our destination was only 5 hours away so we drove. About 3 hours into our trip, our front right tire exploded, causing my husband to steer our out of control mini van over to the shoulder of the interstate. Nearly five minutes before, I had climbed to the back to check on my infant daughter.. taking her from her car seat because she was so upset. I intended to change her diaper and put her back in her seat. At that moment was when I felt the van drive crazily and the bumping of the shoulder grid jolted us into the luggage in the back. I immediately had regretted my decision to take my daughter from her seat, but at the same time was so thankful we were alright.
Our tire was pretty much shot, as you will notice in the picture. And being out in the hot desert sun, it didn't make it any easier for my husband to change a tire on our new van.. in fact it took both of us to read the manual to figure out where the spare tire was hidden.
Of course cars drove by blasting us with the side wind of 70 miles an hour, not one person pausing to stop. I had some time to think as my husband struggled with the tire..the sound of the kids whining, the whiz of cars, the grunts of my husband, seem to drown out as I started thinking about how quickly things in life can change. How one little decision can send your whole life spinning. I know I know it was only a flat tire.. but what if it was more than that.. what if my husband couldn't control the car and we flipped.. God was taking care of us.. Even as a christian, I have do have a peace that passes all understanding.. seeded deep in my heart, my soul.. however, there is a small part of me that reacts with a fear of the 'what ifs?'
Not too many years ago, we were on vacation, visiting family and friends. We were driving down a mountainous ravine in Wyoming. The roads were dirt or should I say deep MUD from the rain. This was pretty rugged so there were no guard rails. I was pregnant at the time, and our little PT Cruiser was too light weight to handle all the mud. I remember feeling that "fear" creep up when we slid close to the side of the mountain.. That intense fear that life could be over in an instant. We made it to our destination but not with out my tears, and trembling.
Most of my family and friends half way laughed..and thought me silly or that it was my pregnancy hormones that sent me into such a emotional response. Perhaps that had something to do with it.. but that sense of "fear" or "dread" was very real. It was what I felt. Perhaps they didn't but it was "real" to me.
I think that often times in life, people who don't share an experience, or aren't where you are in life, whatever the case my be, tend to be more critical, sarcastic, and unkind of your situation. Perhaps we all need to be a bit more understanding and gracious to those around us.. perhaps showing a bit more compassion. Don't worry I am talking to myself just as much!!! :)
Can you relate? I don't mind comments one bit, in fact... its kind of nice actually! lol Or you are welcome to link your own Soap Box Thursday Post with Mr. Linky below!
Here we are the first week of September...another Month. Feels like a fresh start. Woo Hoo !!! 2 more lbs!! I was even on vacation since last week!! I love this diet because no matter if you are home, at work, or on vacation it is so easy to maintain! Can't wait to get out of the "240's" Hope for that goal next week! I didn't get my treadmill in this last week since I was away but I went swimming and chased after kids does that count? lol

A little about me...
It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)
In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.
I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.
There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.
So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
