But.. perhaps its one of those "I'll have to do it myself and hope I don't break my back" lol As far as the book review, and cleaning up my cookbook stuff, well that did not happen.. Not for a lack of trying! This week has been extremely busy.. And then with the Bloggy Carnival.. I turn into a psycho trying to fill out as many as I can.. lol
So here we are starting out fresh for this new Focus Friday!
1. I'll try this one again lol I would really like to finish my book this week.
2. Clean out the mess of cookbooks and recipes.
3. Get all the floors mopped and carpets cleaned.
4. We have lots of shopping to do this weekend.. so I hope I don't forget anything grrr.
I have so much more that I want to accomplish..but since last week's list didn't go too well.. I won't push it lol

My Question is:

Do you like to move furniture around? lol

My Answer:

Growing up, my mother loved to move things around.. always thinking of a better or more creative way to set the Baby Grande against this wall or this shelf over here.. lol Now as an adult..I am not too much into moving furniture, but lucky for me my husband loves to.. Every other week it seems, I walk into a room and I have to do a double take because the couch is not where it was the night before.. or the dining room table is facing a different direction lol I am used it by now (I think lol)

Check out my giveaways here and here!!!

Another Company That Will Pay YOU to Blog!!

I recently wrote a post about making money through here.  I gave it a thumbs up.  This last year, I have made some money just writing simple reviews.  I certainly didn't rake in millions from it lol but I made enough to smile.  (lol)  You can check out and sign up for Payperpost by clicking the button below!

I recently discovered another awesome website called  Now don't get confused!!!  lol   Payingpost is the same idea.  You choose what reviews you would like to write about.  You decide how much.  It is sooo simple.  Payingpost makes it pretty easy to sign up.  I was accepted the same day I signed up... which was nice.. the waiting part is always annoying lol.  Another perk on both of these paying posts sites is that they pay you for every referral as well... kinda cool huh?  Check out and sign up by click on the button below!

Footprint Friday!

Welcome to Footprint Friday! I have decided to host a series every Friday. Our Guest Blogger, Jim from Trails West, will be our contributing author for Footprint Friday. I hope you enjoy his take on 'the family' and what it means in our day and age. Please take a moment to read the Interview with Jim, as well as his article on Raising Children.

Interview with Jim from Trails West

What motivated you to start blogging?

I started blogging because I love to write and express my thoughts and words. I hope that some of the things I write will be a help and an encouragement to someone else.

You write about the family. What is the most important thing about “the family today” that people need to know?

Before government, before the church, before the law, God created the family. Everything in our lives emanates from the family. If the foundation of the family is destroyed then the very glue that holds our culture together is gone.

How long have you been married? How many children do you have?

I have been married 37 years and 5 months. I have 8 children and 14 grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Anything else we should know about you?

For the past 30 years, my wife and I have had the privilege of serving the Lord full time, in the Philippines and in the States. I am committed to the teaching of a literal 6 day creation, the defense of the authority of the Word of God, and the preservation of the family. There are not many things I am not interested in, which is why I write on such a wide variety of topics.

Raising Kids? There is a Secret!

Raising kids is anything but a piece of cake. It's hard work and even more so if you know the secret. In my last post I said I would share the secret to raising children. As promised the secret is "consistency." The Random House Dictionary of the English Language definesconsistent as "constantly adhering to the same principles, course, form, etc.; holding firmly together." Even the name itself implies that it takes longer than sixty seconds or even sixty months!

We all want our children to consistently behave but in order for that to happen it means that we as parents and adults must be consistent in our own lives and that is more times then not where the real problem lies. Too many blame the the child when in reality the problem is found in the inconsistent lives of one or both parents. If you're reading this you may be ready to go somewhere else but before you do indulge me a little a little longer.

At this point I need to issue a disclaimer. I did not grow up with consistency in my home. As a matter of fact I grew up with an opposing view. The idea of being consistent as an adult never meant much until I was married and the first of 8 kids arrived. As we raised our children my wife daily demonstrated consistency in her words and actions. She also did the same for me which actually meant that at times she was raising 9 children. It was hard for me to be consistent and be what I thought for a while was a "mean parent." Ahhh, but as the years passed I began to see the importance of "constantly adhering to the same principles" as we worked hard at "holding" our family "firmly together." So anything that I have learned about being consistent has come from the love of my life as I have watched her year after year.

There are many philosophies about raising children and the idea of changing a child's attitude, behavior and character in 60 seconds or less is one of those philosophies. There is another philosophy that is found in the Bible. Proverbs 22:6 tells us "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." You may have even heard this verse before or memorized it in Sunday School. There is great confusion today about the way a child should go. As one parent said who I talked to about this subject several years ago, "how can we know that one way is better than another?" There are so many ideas out there that are grounded in a contemporary culture that has lost it's spiritual and moral compass. If these new philosophies worked then we would see test scores going up, decreased violence in school, a return to respect and civility in children and teenagers. What we find is a continued collapse of the family unit, family values and fewer parents who know "the way" that their children should go than any other time in the history of our nation.
There is nothing more exciting than the birth of a baby. I have had the privilege of being present for the birth of all 8, and had the heartbreak of holding one we lost. Each one of them is a unique miracle and all of the dirty diapers, late night feedings and training was worth it all. Please understand that nothing can be a greater blessing than a new son or daughter. Remember though, that that same little blessing can grow up to break your heart as a 15 year old. As a parent you cannot fail; you must not fail. No possession you have has more value than your child or your children.
They are the only eternal things you leave behind when you depart this world.

What I have shared in this entry and the one before it is only a brief introduction to the hardest and most rewarding job in the world; being a parent . Don't give up, there is hope! You can do it! But you must be consistent and "know the way!" ~written by

What's Your Hobby Worth?

I am so thrilled to write about  I really enjoy blogging so much, and find myself spending a great deal of time here.  Do you enjoy writing reviews for products or services?  I would of never thought I would have.. but I have really come to enjoy writing reviews.  It's fast and easy.  And what is most rewarding .. getting paid!

blog advertising has become one of the most popular ways for companies and small business to take advantage of affordable advertisement.   Why advertise on a blog?  Well, everyone is on the Internet.. whether at home, or walking around with a hand held computer..we are all connected in some way.  Our society is so driven by comparison shopping, and consumer reviews.  I know for me consumer reviews is a must before purchasing a new item.  I want to know everything there is to know.. the good and the bad about a product or a service.  Blogs are created by normal regular people with honest opinions.  So what better way to incorporate your love for writing with blog marketing.

Payingpost has a wonderfully simple yet elegant website.  I could not believe how easy it was for me to join.  I spent a few minutes filling out my information, and blog specifics.  My blog was accepted in no time!  I can pick and choose which review opportunities I would like to write about, and even set my own fee if an company wishes to hire me themselves.

I have 2 kids under 4, and has made it so easy for me to write a review and get paid for it all in the comfort of my own home(even with screaming, playing kids all around me).  Another way to make a stay at mom like me, happy doing what she enjoys.. and getting paid for it!

Target Toy Deals - Works for Me Wednesday

I was so thrilled last week when a fellow blogger posted about Targets 75% off toy deal..

starting. My husband, the kids, and I darted off to Target Saturday in hopes to find some good deals. There were soooo many good deals.. that I couldn't even think.. lol I only grabbed a few things.. because the kids..were getting to "grabby". The Scooby Doo Game was only 4 dollars, normally 20. It is so cute. I have already played it several times with my son. The first time I put it together.. welll.. it was a trick.. but now its easier. As you move Scooby or Shaggy around the board, different boobie traps are triggered.. the staircase may move, knocking you off, or the mummy might come out of the box, or the gate will lower. I actually enjoy playing it lol.

I also found a cute little tykes first recorder. It was only $1.30. Normally $10. The recorder came with a little song and lesson book.

I know I know as you look at the picture.. you are probably wondering why I bought a Skunk. lol It is made by National Geographic, and its remote control LOL I love it. It was only $4 normally over $20.

The crazy hair puppy was only $1.40. My 13 month little girl..loves it. At least for today, she does lol.

I purchased Speed Racer party supplies for .53 for 8 plates.. and 8 cups, tablecloth, napkins. (not in the picture). I will use these for my son's birthday in a few months.

I found a really cute Wow Wow Wubzy hand held game. My 4 year old son LOVES it. Only $3.50. Normally $20. The game carries 4 games.

Target really has some great deals right now. I think I will go back this weekend..and pick up some bday gifts for family as well!

Weigh In Wednesday - Returns (blah)

Yes, I'm back.. and let me tell you.. there is not a Smile on my face right now! Don't you wish that life didn't derail us so easily? Things good or bad.. wouldn't deter us from our goals?! The last few months has not been so great for me.. as far as my goal to a healthier me. The holidays, stress of family, relationships with others that could be better, people who only look at the negative aspects, my father having a massive stroke last month... grrr I will tell you all this and more..sent me flying off the horse. So here I am.. getting back up.. dusting myself off..and putting myself back in the saddle, 20 lbs heavier. (GRRRR)

My previous weight:  (October 15th, 2008)

240  lbs

My current weight:

260 lbs

Gained 20 lbs ( I know I hear all the gasps!!!)

When I weighed myself last week.. I can't tell you how mad I was at myself first of all.. and secondly.. how sad it made.. me. But that's all it get my attention.  Okay my smile is back lol  I can't wait to get this weight off!!!  I think the reality is...we all fail ... it's what we do with our failures..I think that counts..  (right? :))

I will be weighing in next Wednesday.. with GREAT HOPES of some results!!!

Please feel free to link your weight results up below with Mr Linky!

What Legacy Will You Leave Behind...?

Welcome to Footprint Friday! I have decided to host a series every Friday. Our Guest Blogger, Jim from Trails West, will be our contributing author for Footprint Friday. An interview with Jim will be coming soon! I hope you enjoy his take on 'the family' and what it means in our day and age.

Perhaps like me you have seen the commercial on TV that frequently advertises a CD that will help you get control of your child in 60 seconds or less. The only way to do that so that the change is permanent is to have leverage, like a full grown T-rex in the backyard that you will feed your child to if they don't shape up! You could also invest in a case of duct tape or even take roping lessons. Whatever it is, it had better be good to stop bad behavior in less than a minute that a kid has been perfecting into an art form for years!

I will never forget going to the grocery store with my oldest son (now 33 with 5 of his own) who at that time was 3. We were having a great time picking up a few things for Mom as we pretended we were driving in the Daytona 500. We had just turned the corner into the cereal aisle when we saw "him"; although he was only 3 or 4 Chad and I knew that he was definitely related to Mr. Hyde's side of the family (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde). We stopped in the middle of the aisle as the following drama played out before our eyes. The young terrorist said "I want Captain Crunch" and his mother said "no honey we're going to get something else today." Raising his voice several decibels he again said, "I want Captain Crunch" and again his mother said "no". By this time my little guy had the look on his face that kids get just before they know something big is about to happen. The third time he spoke he yelled, "I said I want Captain Crunch" and then he proceeded to slap his mother in the face! Chad's mouth dropped open and finally he found his voice as he looked at me and said, "whoa he's gonna get a spankin'!" We were both surprised when his mother, holding her cheek said, "well all right, if that's what you want. Mommy's sorry." She then picked up a box of the Captain's finest and put it in the cart. As they passed us my little guy said "Dad are you gonna spank him? Dad, he needs to be spanked! Dad, please spank him!" I explained that he wasn't my little boy and that maybe his Mom (I hoped) would take care of him in the car. We were backing out of the parking lot when we again saw the pair getting into their car and Chad made one more comment, "somebody needs to spank him!"

My wife and I have observed over the last 37 years that more children than ever behave badly in public and what's worse more parents than we ever remember allow it to happen. I have wondered often if this is caused by parents who don't know how to discipline, or don't want to, afraid to discipline in public or have just fallen into the goofy idea that we must keep our children happy-- as we make them the center of our homes!? Whatever it is, bad behaving children, disrespectful teenagers and embarrassed parents are definitely on the increase. It didn't used to be this way. There was a day when a parent, teacher or principal could strike fear into the heart of a child with a simple verbal warning and the child would obey and behave! I'm not making this up it really used to be that way.

When I was about 6 I backed the tractor out of the garage and almost went down the hill into the corn field. My Dad had repeatedly told me not to touch that old John Deere but I just couldn't help myself. The worst part was two of my friends were standing behind me holding onto the seat. When my mother said "you just wait until your father gets home," I immediately went to my little clubhouse and wrote out my last will and testament, lined up the toys I would give to my brother and waited under the tree.

Finally, I heard the car in the drive way. It didn't take long for my Dad to talk to my Mom, look at the tractor and call my name. As my life passed before my eyes I walked up to him and he handed me his Old Timer pocket knife that I still have and said, "go down in the woods and cut a willow switch!" In those days it was tough enough to get a whippin' but to have to cut your own switch was torture. Ten minutes later I returned and he looked at what I had cut down and said "it's not big enough, go back and get another!" I never forgot that or what happened when I brought the "log" back up the hill. It was a long time before I disobeyed either one of my parents again. Painful as it was it was a necessary lesson that has stuck with me through the years.

Raising kids is hard work, but in this day and time with the prevailing culture, is it possible to raise well behaved, good kids who do right and turn into productive adults who live right? I believe that it is and in my next entry I'll share the secret. I will tell you that you can't do it in sixty seconds, it takes a life time but the rewards are richer than you can ever imagine!" ~Jim at Trails West

My Question is:

The airplane that went down Thursday in the Hudson River..was pretty amazing. What a miracle! It sure puts our life into perspective huh? What would you change today..if you survived an airplane crash? Would it cause you to make different choices? Would you think twice about your eternity? (sorry a lot of questions)

My Answer:

I think that I would change everything.. I think I would want relationships repaired.. My days would have more meaning.. My kids would seem more special.. Funny thing is why.. does God have to bring us to our knees before we appreciate what He has given us..

An Island Life is hosting Aloha Friday.. I thought it would be fun to participate. All you have to do is answer the question I ask by leaving a comment. Then click over to An Island Life and link up to Aloha Friday with your own question!

My Question for YOU:
Do you giveaway a book as soon as you read it or do you like to have as many bookshelves around the house filled with books?

I love to read. I love the look of Books. So for me the more books I get the More shelves my husband puts up for me lol

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
