I opened up an account with SwagBucks a while ago and never did anything with it lol  But since then, I have heard so many bloggers talking about "SwagBucks This"  Swagbucks That" lol So finally I went back and really read what it was about.. and wow its pretty cool!!  (I know all of you that have been doing SwagBucks for a while are rolling your eyes at me lol) All you have to do is search using the SwagBucks Search engine and you earn swagbucks..  There are other ways as well.  And from what I can tell it doesn't take long at all to earn enough for a gift card or other prizes.

Right now they if you enter this code:  BirthdayBuck   in the swagbucks search you will receive 5 or 10 Swagbucks.  Woo hoo.

Why does it take me so long to catch on to good deals??? lol

Pay It Forward!

*This Post will remain here until at least 3 people play along lol

Heather at a Day With Jake had this on her blog about paying it forward.  I love this I thought I would join in!!

The rules are simple:

The first 3 people to post a comment on this entry will receive a gift from me sometime during the year. When and what are a surprise to the winners!

Then, post about this on your blog & come back and leave your comment telling me you are Paying It Forward as well.

Only the first 3 comments that leave a comment and post this on their blog gets the prize. So who wants to pay it forward?

What a fun Idea!!

*  Just a reminder:  In order to be one of the 3 people chosen you have to be one of the first three to comment here..then pay it forward on your own blog with a post just like this one!

Footprint Friday! "The Giant"

Welcome to Footprint Friday! I have decided to host a series every Friday. Our Guest Blogger, Jim from Trails West, will be our contributing author for Footprint Friday. I hope you enjoy his take on 'the family' and what it means in our day and age.

I will never forget the first time I saw Max Palmer.  He wasn’t just "big" he was HUGE!   He had to stoop down to walk in a normal double doorway.  Little did I know that after being introduced to him  we would strike up a friendship that would last for many years.

I soon discovered that if Max sat in a church pew and I stood beside him we were the same size!  Shoulder to shoulder my middle finger was two inches short of his elbow.  When he stood up my head came to his waist and when I would put on his sport coat the side pockets would lay flat on the floor.  I could slide his ring over three of my fingers and his shoes were longer than two of mine.  At nearly 8 feet tall, weighing over 450 pounds Max was the biggest man I had ever seen or known.

His car had no front seat and to ride with him was an introduction into how much carpet they actually put in automobiles.   The first time we had a meal together (something he did every two hours or so) I had a two piece chicken dinner and he ordered a bucket.

Not only was Max big but he had a great sense of humor.  Occasionally when he would need a ride somewhere I would take him in an old pick-up.  I would move the seat all the way back and put five or six pillows behind me so I could reach the pedals.  That would leave Max enough room to get his legs in with his knees sticking up above the dashboard.  Often at stoplights he would have the window down and reach out and pat the top of the car beside us.  The first reaction of many drivers was to either run the light or just sit there and scream. Max loved it and never seemed to tire of ways to surprise people.

Growing up wasn’t easy for him.  He was always the tallest kid  and was picked on by most people in the Mississippi town where he grew up.  His adult life was dominated by jobs that took him from Hollywood to professional wrestling.  Max handled his fame by drinking and by his late 30’s it had begun to take a toll on his body which finally resulted in a hospital stay for a very sick giant.  Tired of years of being teased and taken advantage of, Max had become depressed which had made him drink even more.  Life at this point had little meaning or purpose.

A local pastor was visiting a church member one day when a hospital staffer told him about Max.  The pastor stopped by for a visit and for the first time in his life Max heard the story of Jesus who loved him so much He went to the cross to die for him.  Not long after that he made the life changing decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

Once out of the hospital Max began to attend church and was asked to share his story.  That opportunity opened a door for the giant to travel all over the country and share what God had done for him.  In the years that followed he became known as "Goliath for Christ"!

Although you may never have known a real giant like Max most of us during our lifetime are confronted with giants.  We know their names.  They have names like: disease, divorce, family problems, finances, economy, heartache, and job loss to mention a few.  They are big and frightening as they rob us of joy and hope.  Once you have encountered a few of these giants you are often wounded and don’t know where to turn.  Your days are empty and the nights are long as you seek answers to giants you never knew you would meet.   You look for answers and seem to find none and have wondered if there is any hope.  Take heart, there is!

Max found the answer that day in his hospital room when he heard the God's wonderful plan of salvation. Perhaps you're at a crossroads in your life and see no hope and no way out.  Your burden is too heavy and there appears to be no rest available.  If this all sounds painfull familiar than you need to know what Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  I hope you'll join Max and so many of us who have found the answer for life and eternity.

Next post I'll share more of the story of the tallest man I ever knew.  ~written by Jim from Trails West

History of Home Values

A history of home values
The average price of housing hasn't really changed (adjusted for inflation) aside from the Great Depression. What is the other period that sticks out as being fantastically different? You guessed it -- right now. It's in the other direction, but that's possibly even more dangerous. Check out the Chart below.

I found this Chart both interesting and terribly depressing!  I found this article here.

Kitchen Tip Tuesdays

Last week I posted a picture of cupcakes I had made for our dinner guests.  So I thought I would share my favorite Frosting recipe this week.

1 1/2  cup of Butter Crisco Shortening
1/2     cup very hot water
1 tsp  Vanilla
Pinch of Salt
2 lbs  Powder Sugar (1 bag)

If you don't use Butter Crisco Shortening and opt for plain White shortening.. It will work just fine you will just need to add 2 tsps of Butter Flavoring.  You can get that Michael's.  However, I think that the Butter Crisco gives it the perfect balance.

Cream Shortening.. add Vanilla, Salt.  Cream.  Add a little of the Powdered Sugar.  Mix.  Add a little of the hot water.  Mix completely.  Alternate between the powdered Sugar and Water until the Water is gone, and you have achieved the right consistency.

I know there are so many frosting recipes out there..but this happens to be one of my favorites.  It works wonderful on cakes, cookies, or cupcakes.  It is not too sweet, or too buttery.  It turns out fluffy and light.  I really think the secret is the Butter Crisco and the hot water.. The longer you mix the more fluffy it becomes.

Works For Me Wednesday - Sleeping Mask

Here we go another Einstein TIP from me lol   I picked this Sleeping mask up at Target a few weeks ago.. in the dollar bin.  I felt a little silly and immature for doing so, especially because the front of the sleeping mask says "Dream Girl" lol  I don't always sleep well at night, and I have been telling my husband FOREVER that it's because we have so many little lights on in our room.  Laptop lights, all these colored cord lights, night lights.. Our bedroom looks like a rainbow at night lol  So I gave this childish sleeping mask a try and "OH MY WORD" for the last week or so I have slept so soundly.. It really is amazing.  I don't feel claustrophobic, like I thought I might lol.  It is a very thin mask.. so its not hot..but its also comfortable with the light fuzzy fleece.  I used to always see women sleeping with masks on movies..and I wondered if it actually worked! lol  Well, for me it WORKS!  Yah! for sleeping through the night!! :)

Wordless Wednesday!

Stop moaning its really not that bad lol  I need to go back to what I did last year when I lost 45 lbs.  That routine worked for me then.  Ugh until next week...

My Question:

Do you watch The Biggest Loser? If so what do you tend to do during the 2 hours? Exercise? Eat? Fold Laundry? Dream about being skinny?

My Answer:

LOL I asked because.. lately I have talked to different people who watch The Biggest Loser and have all told me they are so motivated while watching..but then tend to watch it with a big bowl of ice cream on their lap LOL I try to do the exercises that jullian suggests you know during the commercials..but I have been guilty of a treat or two while watching it lol

This is Great! Ungrateful generation!

Works For Me Wednesday! Cupcakes!

I love having company over.. I love cooking meals for friends and family. However, I want to be prepared.. I want my home scrubbed clean, my menu planned, and my candles burning. This week we have had the honor of having my brother in law visit us. We had a wonderful visit.. This was the first time my daughter was able to meet her Uncle. In planning my meal, I always struggle with what is best for appetizers, first course, main course, dessert!!! Ahhh.. it gives me a headache sometimes lol

All this to say, that making cupcakes for dessert sure makes the process a whole lot easier lol I just now realized this.. lol I was contemplating on baking a cake for our guest.. but then between trying to clean the house..and watching the kids.. I was trying to figure out how I would have the time to decorate the cake nicely and make sure the layers were even.. So I settled on cupcakes.. I know you are thinking ... that this is the dumbest tip ever!!! LOL But seriously lol if you are like me..and really stress over meal planning when having guests stick to something easy and yummy.. Cupcakes!!! (this was for my brother in laws bday too)

For more tips.. much more creative and brilliant than mine---Please Click HERE lol

Vitamins for Kids!

Why is it during the week.. I can think of a million things that work for us..then come Tuesday Night I draw a blank lol  I really need to take notes as I think of things.   However, I do have to tell you about the children's vitamins I finally decided on..  Goodness, if I get one more email or hear one more report about "lead" or "poison" in children's vitamins or medicines.. I don't know what I am going to lol  It is ridiculous!!

I found some really great vitamins through Shaklee for my 15 month old daughter.  It comes in a powder form that you can mix in with their juice, formula, or food.  It is called Vita-Lea Infant Mix.

For my 4 year old.. I found some vitamins from True Essentials.  This Multivitamin is called Essentials for Kids.  This one is a chewable!

Next I want to try the Multivitamins for Adults..

I am just thankful that there are companies out there trying to do the right thing.  Keep our kids, our families safe and healthy by NOT cutting corners on quality.

Footprint Friday!

Welcome to Footprint Friday! I have decided to host a series every Friday. Our Guest Blogger, Jim from Trails West, will be our contributing author for Footprint Friday. I hope you enjoy his take on 'the family' and what it means in our day and age.

The Power of God

In Genesis chapter 1 we read a number of times the phrase, “and God said.” It is hard for us to understand the sheer power of His words. When He spoke during creation week things that were not came into immediate existence. In recent days as we stood and once again looked over the south rim of the Grand Canyon I could not help but think of Romans 1:20 when Paul wrote, “for the invisible things of Him for the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead.” The sheer magnitude of the canyon is clear evidence of a world wide flood and as we stood there a beautiful rainbow appeared. All, in testimony to the power of God’s words and His promises. The power of God’s words can also be understood by those who know Him. In John 14:27 Jesus said “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” This was not said to the canyons or the mountains. Jesus spoke these words so that those who know Him would fight comfort in the midst of the storm, peace in the midst of the trial and hope where it seems to not exist. Take time today to let His words speak to you and you will experience the comfort and blessings of His power. ~ Written by Jim from Trails West

Just been thinking...

I have been thinking alot lately.. about "alot" of different things.. (vague eh? lol). I'll pose this question... What do you do.. when people or circumstances in your life.. bring you down? When you think one thing is "fixed" you turn around and find it truly never was.. You try and restore and people don't wish to.. It really is hard... It's hard when its your co-workers, friends, and even harder yet, family. What do you do when you feel completely misunderstood..? When you feel like banging your head against the wall.. because facts don't seem to matter? What do you do when people aren't interested in the source.. aren't interested in the truth? What do you do when people go off of stories.. and don't bother checking the facts?

In most cases... unfortunately there is not much you can do.. If a person chooses to believe their assumptions or their perceptions over what is real and true.. not much you can do. But what do you do in the mean time.. For me.. I have found the only thing that comforts me, calms me.. gives me peace.. is reading the Bible and praying. Psalms is where I have been reading.. I will tell you God has a way of using His word to calm me.. To remind me of forgiveness.. To remind me that He is ultimately in control.

You know my father told me not too long ago.. "You are responsible for your testimony, but let God take care of your reputation" Meaning that I am responsible for me.. what comes out of my mouth, for what actions I take.. but I cannot control what people choose to say or believe or even make up about me.

I think we can all admit a time or two when provoked we react.. When provoked we can feel the blood boiling in our veins.. When misunderstood.. you feel like pulling your hair out. But in the end.. we have to remember that God sees all and knows all. He knows the beginning from the end.. When people talk about you behind your back.. they think they are getting away with the stories they create, but they aren't.. God hears it all.

One of my most favorite Psalms is Psalms 27... I specially love the 14th verse. "Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!"

So when you feel your blood boiling lol or you feel life unfair.. don't react.. don't let your feelings take over reasoning.. let God bring calmness to your heart... Let Him turn your hurt, anger, frustration into forgiveness, understanding and joy.. That is my prayer..

Weigh In Wednesday!!

Wooo the days and weeks are flying by! I exercised nearly everyday this last week.. not intense exercise but exercise none the less. Eating was rather blah.. I won't bother with the excuses. However, my husband bought me the Wii Sports along with the Julianne Michaels Biggest Loser Exercise Wii Game. I am telling you.. its AWESOME!! I wrote about it here! I am so happy to have an exercise that is actually fun!!
So with that here goes the weigh in.
Last Week's Weight:
260 lbs
This Week's Weight:
259 lbs
1 measly pound. No excuses right? Just committing to do better this week! How did everyone do? I hope hope hope better than I did lol
Link up below with Mr Linky with your Weight loss progress!

After reading blog after blog after blog lately about how wonderful the Wii we finally decided to buy one! I used to think that Xbox was cool lol My husband and I thought the Wii would be perfect for our family. We love to play "games" but we need to be more active. The Wii really allows us to play tennis, bowl, baseball, boxing (which I love), and golf in the comfort of our home. My husband also bought me the Julianne Micheal's Biggest Loser Workout Wii. I love it!! You can customize your workout to intensity and time. If you have the balance board (which I need to get) it will also weigh you and keep track of your weight progress.

I can't wait to see the progress!

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
