Homemade Ice Cream in 8 minutes!

I saw this cute idea on Sisterly Savings Blog.  I tried this with my son yesterday.   Making ice cream was so easy.  If only I would of known earlier lol  This recipe makes enough for one serving.

 <span class=

1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon sugar
4 cups crushed ice
4 tablespoons salt
2 quart size Zip-loc bags
1 gallon size Zip-loc freezer bag
a hand towel or gloves to keep fingers from freezing as well!

Mix the milk, vanilla and sugar together in one of the quart size bags. Seal tightly, allowing as little air to remain in the bag as possible (too much air left inside may force the bag open during shaking)

Place this bag inside the other quart size bag, again leaving as little air inside as possible and sealing well. By double-bagging, the risk of salt and ice leaking into the ice cream is minimized.

Put the two bags inside the gallon size bag and fill the bag with ice, then sprinkle salt on top. Again let all the air escape and seal the bag.

Wrap the bag in the towel or put your gloves on, and Shake, Shake, Shake! and massage the bag, making sure the ice surrounds the cream mixture.

Five to eight minutes is adequate time for the mixture to freeze into ice cream.

I just have one question... why aren't we dealing with this?  The "Buck" used to stop with the United States...where are our muscles?

The country test-fires another short-range missile, warning it will act in "self-defense" if provoked by the U.N.

Couple Ordered To Stop Bible Study in Home

Couple Ordered to Stop Holding Bible Study at Home Without Permit

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Pastor David Jones and his wife Mary have been told that they cannot invite friends to their San Diego, Calif. home for a Bible study — unless they are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to San Diego County.

"On Good Friday we had an employee from San Diego County come to our house, and inform us that the Bible study that we were having was a religious assembly, and in violation of the code in the county." David Jones told FOX News.

"We told them this is not really a religious assembly — this is just a Bible study with friends. We have a meal, we pray, that was all," Jones said.

A few days later, the couple received a written warning that cited "unlawful use of land," ordering them to either "stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit," the couple's attorney Dean Broyles told San Diego news station 10News.

But the major use permit could cost the Jones' thousands of dollars just to have a few friends over.

For David and Mary Jones, it's about more than a question of money.

"The government may not prohibit the free exercise of religion," Broyles told FOX News. "I believe that our Founding Fathers would roll over in their grave if they saw that here in the year 2009, a pastor and his wife are being told that they cannot hold a simple Bible study in their own home."

"The implications are great because it’s not only us that’s involved," Mary Jones said. "There are thousands and thousands of Bible studies that are held all across the country. What we’re interested in is setting a precedent here — before it goes any further — and that we have it settled for the future."

The couple is planning to dispute the county's order this week.

If San Diego County refuses to allow the pastor and his wife to continue gathering without acquiring a permit, they will consider a lawsuit in federal court.

Have you ever been locked out of the house by your kids? (or someone else if you don't have kids)

Well, obviously, I have... Yesterday in fact.. I was outside pulling weeds.. in the intense Southwest heat. My son was helping me one minute then the next I look over and see him through the glass door doing "haha" Dance-pointing his finger at me. Let's just say I had to threaten, plead, I was melting in the heat..seriously almost about to pass the meantime of this I sprained my ankle slightly on the rocks.. UGH lol Thankfully, he opened the door...I was about to have a heat I quickly drank a bottle of water. My son is 4 1/2..and now knows its very dangerous to leave mommy outside in the heat...AHHHH!!!

Paying to Tweet on Twitter?

I just heard on our local news that Twitter announced they will charging for Twitter services...they just haven't decided what they will charge.  Goodness, I think that is silly.  What are we paying for? lol

Online Food Journal

I recently started keeping track of everything I ate in a journal.  It was working..but it gets annoying after a while ..because I really didn't know the exact calories ect.  So I remembered Sparkpeople.  I used to use the Sparkpeople website a couple of years ago and really enjoyed all the free tools.  Below is a sample of what I ate today... lol  I love it though because it really customizes how many calories you should have.. and its cool to see how to eat in those boundaries. Susan Boyles latest Performance

Recipe Swap Monday

I am a little late getting my recipe out..but this is my first time to participate! :)  To find more yummy recipes click over to Our Chaotic Life!

I was trying to find something to bake for my family that didn't involve chocolate or a ton of work. lol  These cookies are awesome!  You can frost if you like.. but really they are so good just plain.  You don't have to roll these either.  I think they kind of taste like Snickerdoodles..just without the sugar and cinnamon on the outside.

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
2.In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3.Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
