Aloha Friday

An Island Life is hosting Aloha Friday.. I thought it would be fun to participate. All you have to do is answer the question I ask by leaving a comment. Then click over to An Island Life and link up to Aloha Friday with your own question!

If someone calls you on the phone and you are on the other line do you still use the phrase "I'm on long distance..." ? lol

Not too long ago I called my Dad and he said "Can I call you back, I'm on long distance" lol I was thinking ...who says that anymore? lol I'm long distance too..calling from another state. I just thought it was so funny. I never tell people I am on long distance.. because everyone I talk to is in a different state lol

Nope, I don't say it anymore! We don't have landlines either, just cells, so it doesn't matter. :)

That's too funny! I guess I don't even think about local vs. long distance anymore. With a nationwide cell plan it doesn't make any difference if they are across the street or across the country.

If I am talking long distance to a call that is really important I will say that.

Momstart said...

nope, and I don't have a landline either

I usually don't answer the other line. I am so bad. I rarely get to talk on the phone without screaming kids in the background, so when I am on and the other line beeps, I don't bother. I just give the person I am talking to my undivided attention

No, I don't say that. And I am like Momstart - I no longer have a landline.

Rob said...

Nope. I do not have a landline and I typically will not answer the other call if I am on my cell phone with someone.

No, I don't call anyone who's long distance.

I just say I'm on another line! Everyone I speak to is usually in another state too! *L*

No I haven't used that phrase in forever. I have a cell too so it doesn't matter who I am talking to it costs the same. I usually just don't answer if the call I am on is really important then I call them back when I am done!

Nope, I've not had to say that in forever. Although I was on the phone with my father the other night and my husband was calling from over seas, so I did tell my father I'd have to let him go.

No land line here so it wouldn't make a difference

I had to stop and think as I no longer think in terms of long distance, unless I am receiving an overseas call. If they call is something that cannot wait, I tell the person and get back with them.

TheAngelForever said...

The long distance is not really important these days since we have unlimited calling on our phone plan (and cells after 9). If it is my in-laws or other family that we need to take the call from I will simply tell the person that and call them back.

I know this is bad, but sometimes when I cannot get OFF the phone...I'll quickly push a button and then tell the person...someones on the other line...oh, its 'so-in-so'...can I call you back? ;o)

Deni said...

I have never ever said that, I also don't have a landline so I don't worry about it!

I am Harriet said...

If I were on one cell and my other one rang I would not answer it and call the caller back when I'm done.

Diane said...

lol! i remember my mom screaming at us all the time when i was little - be quiet! i'm on long distance!

drahdrah said...

Nope... just don't answer if I don't want to talk.

Pami said...

I don't think about it since I have unlimited calling anywhere i just say let me see who this is unless I am on an important call, I just ignore that incoming call they can leave a message

shopannies said...

yes I do because I got rid of my cellphone to save money and now try to save money on my home phone

Nope--just cell phones here! I loke your blog--good luck w/weight loss. I was 117 for most of my life & was pretty judgemental of people--now, I just reached 178 myself & really frustrated about it. It is just more uncomfortable!!

Nope--I usually just ignore the other call until I am finished with the current call. I figure if it's an emergency, they will call back shortly or text.

LZ said...

Nope. I only have my cell phone, so I would be called a liar!

homeschoolceo said...

No, I haven't said that in a long time. Hadn't thought about it though. Most people call me on my cell phone. If it's the home phone it's telemarketers or my husband's family calling.

Jenni Jiggety said...

Nope! I haven't heard that in a long time! LOL!

LOL ~ Yes, I do still say that!! Think it's b/c I'm more from that generation (I'm a tad older Posh Mama - ha - in her 50's) When I'm on my cell, I've gotten better - usually say "I'm on another call, can I call you right back?"

Pamela Kramer said...

No but that's a funny story.

AudreyO said...

I'm not sure I've ever said that to anyone, but over the years I've heard that phrase many times. And yes, there have been times that I too was calling long distance LOL.

Hey, if you want to chat with someone about weight loss and losing just one pound at a time, email me.

Kekibird said...

Hahahahah! Nope, never used it because I only know people in the state I'm in. I'd be called out as a liar so fast!

Valerie said...

I don't think that I have ever said that before. I know my mom still does! IF I answer a call when I am on another call I just say I'm on another call I'll call you back. :)

Mighty M said...

No, I haven't said that in a looooong time. I never answer my other line either! Have a great weekend!!

Cathi said...

Hmmmm....I think that when a long distance phone call was actually costing a long distance fee, there wasn't call waiting. LOL I don't think I've ever used that phrase.
Happy Aloha Friday!

I don't say it because I make very few phone calls. :p

I really do not like being put on hold so I finish the first conversation and then call the 2nd person back

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
