Aloha Friday

An Island Life is hosting Aloha Friday.
I thought it would be fun to participate. All you have to do is answer the question I ask by leaving a
comment. Then click over to An Island Life and link up to Aloha Friday with your own question!

My Question:
I don't care if you are democrat or republican or if you hate or love Obama. Do you think, as parents, we have the right to choose where our children go to school and what they are taught?

My Answer:
Yes, it's called FREEDOM!

My kids are so important to me.. They are my purpose. I have heard a lot of political rumors and such about the government taking our rights as parents away...starting with education. I will say this. I did not have children to have other people raise them.. nor have a government tell me where they are go to school. If I want to send them to a Christian school then I will. If I want to teach them at home then I will! They are my responsibility..and God's gift to me!

It's all about the federal tax dollars and where they are going. There is something to be said about neighborhood schools being part of growing up.

Have a great Friday!

Of course we have the right to choose where our kids go! That shouldn't be up to anyone but the parents, in my opinion.

As a parent and teacher I definitely think we should have the right to determine where we send our own children. With that said I wish we would stop allowing so many charter schools that are run by corporations and not educators to crop up. They are putting the final nail in a lot of public schools.

Interesting question. Right now we really don't have a choice. We live in a district and we are told that because we live in that district we must send our child to the school for that zone. It doesn't matter if that's not my first choice of schools.

I have heard those rumors too. I think we should have the right to choose.

Right now I am blessed to live in an area that provides many schooling choices; public, public run charter, virtual, private or even homeschooling. Parents should always have the choice. I hope we always do.

I'm not sure exactly what you are alluding to. In my town, they just passed a law that if kids go to public high school, they now have to go to the high school they are zoned for. This sucks for the many kids who go to other schools, especially for the ones who go for specific programs at said schools. Private schools are always an option, but of course they dont have the special programs. I think it sucks!

I think we should be able to choose where they go (as in public vs private) but I would hope that what they are taught is pretty standardized. I want my kids to have all the same opportunities as others and I think that starts with standardizing what children should be expected to know at each grade level.

Of course! I will either homeschool or send my children to a private christian school. But if I must send them to public school the teachers will get to know me very well! LOL

I think it's a parents right to have a say in what their children are taught in school.

A little about me...

It is that time again!!!! I am thinking of attempting to lose weight for the 100 millionth time. haha. This time I know it will work :)

In November of 2007, I gave birth to my second child, a C-Section. Not only did that put me back physically, but I also developed high blood pressure. I am only 29. Talk about discouraging.

I started gaining weight in highschool. Seems to have followed me everywhere. My ultimate goal is to lose 120 lbs but I'll settle for 10 right now. haha.

There is absolutely no reason why I cannot succeed in this weight loss endeavor. I have exercise equipment. I guess that means I have to use it. Also, I am going to attempt the Carbohydrates Addict Diet. I have had some success with this in the past.

So I am thinking, with putting my progress out for the world to see.. it will force me to make the right choices. Let's hope!! Feel free to comment on anything or tell your story. It's always encouraging to hear about others successes. Join me on this weight loss journey...
