Aloha Friday - A Christmas Tree by Any Other Name...

My QUESTION:

How do you feel about Gov. Steve Beshear from FRANKFORT, Kentucky -- Saying that the Christmas tree on the Capitol lawn this winter won't be called a Christmas tree. Instead, the Beshear administration has dubbed it a "holiday tree."

MY ANSWER:

No.. I don't think this is right. Next thing we know.. Christmas will not even be a holiday on the Calendar. Christmas, whether you like it or not, is a day to celebrate the birth of Christ. Why does Merry Christmas offend people? Why does a "Christmas tree" offend people? Our country is headed down a path of no morals whatsoever.. It's seems that some people are trying to change everything that is right.. to wrong. We have people who want to remove God from everything in this country. But without God.. our country well .. without God.. I am scared for what will happen to this country. I'd rather have God on our side.. have God give us the strength and guidance.. Have "In God We Trust" still stamped upon the character and essence of America....then trying to do it all ourselves..and mess it all up! Did our Founding Father's fight for nothing? Have all of our wars been in vain?

The rate this nation is going.. we will soon have No Christmas, No Easter, and No Thanksgiving. It will be a "Gift Day" "Bunny Day" and "Turkey Day" No meaning whatsoever. We are on a roll at teaching our children to stand for something.. to value and treasure our heritage and our nation's history.. *shaking head*

As far as I am concerned. It is still "Merry Christmas" It is still a "Christmas Tree". And Christmas is still about the birth of Jesus Christ.

The sad thing is.. if the FCC gets their way.. and the Net Neutrality Bill finds its way to the President's desk.. we will soon find that expressing our opinions like I have done today will not be tolerated by a government run Internet.

The Bloggest Loser Sunday Update

Here we are again......... This last week went better. Picked up my exercise a bit. Went for 1 1/2 yesterday on the bike and treadmill.. It helps to watch a good movie while exercising lol Drinking lots of water.

Well, as boring as this post is.. lol There isn't much else to tell. So I am off to switch loads in the laundry and then to the exercise room.

True and False

The other day I posted a segment of President Obama's thesis paper in college. Because it was just out..I assumed it to be true..and to be honest it isn't much different than what he has said already. Their are audio and video clips of him saying things of this nature.

However, If indeed the "segment" did not come from his thesis.. then I retract :) Many things fly around the Internet at warp speed.. some true, some not.

If the government takes over the internet like they are itching to do with Net Neutrality then we won't have to worry about any more true or false statements being made about the President.. because it will all be filtered by the White House. But then again, that is kind of a oxymoron.. hmm.. :)

Stock Up For Your Family

There has been a lot of talk of stocking up food and necessities for your family. I have started to stock up..but have a long way to go. I found a great quick list to start with. This should be enough for your family for a year.. or longer.

1. 25 lbs flour
2. 25 lbs cornmeal
3. 25 lbs sugar
4. 25 lbs rice
5. 25 lbs dry beans
6. 5 boxes dry milk
7. 5 boxes tea, coffee, kool aid, etc.
8. 5 boxes pasta
9. Powdered eggs if no chickens
10. Medications for everyone in the family. Prescriptions can now be bought in 3 month supplies at Walmart and Sears.

All of these items need to be placed in dry places. Containers with a seal is the best. If sealed properly they can last for years, I am told. Paint Buckets from Walmart or other Paint Stores a good. Apple Juice containers from the store are great containers for Water Storage. Most of these items can be purchased inexpensively from Warehouse stores!

Don't forget other items like Diapers, Shampoo, Soaps, Wipes. If you need help calculating what your needs will be for your family go to this Food Storage Calculator!

I missed this first time around. Brian Lancaster at Jumping in Pools reported on Obama’s college thesis, written when he was at Columbia. The paper was called “Aristocracy Reborn,” and in the first ten pages (which were all that reporter Joe Klein–who wrote about it for Time–was permitted to see), the young Obama wrote:

“… the Constitution allows for many things, but what it does not allow is the most revealing. The so-called Founders did not allow for economic freedom. While political freedom is supposedly a cornerstone of the document, the distribution of wealth is not even mentioned. While many believed that the new Constitution gave them liberty, it instead fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy.”

My Question:

How do you feel about the Net Neutrality Issue? Do you think the Government should "own" the Internet and monitor everything we do and say?

My Answer:

The Net Neutrality Issue is a huge step in the wrong direction, and it encroaches, nearly topples our right to Free Speech. It hasn't passed yet.. however the vote has gone through the FCC and will make it's way to Congress. Let Washington know how you feel on this issue.. As Americans we cannot let this happen!
