It Is Well With My Soul...

(Sorry it's not so Wordless this week :)

My Dad and Niece. They were both diagnosed recently with rare conditions. My father was originally diagnosed with Liposarcomas and now its something to do with the adrenals. My Niece was originally diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and since then has been diagnosed with Acute Aplastic Anemia. This picture is really a special one to us. (You can see my niece has a wrap of sorts on her hand. That is from all the blood transfusions)

Dad is going in for surgery tomorrow. To have the tumor like masses removed from his abdomen. This is a very intense, serious, and risky surgery. We have great hope and faith that God is in complete control.

My niece is starting Chemo in the next 10 days, then a transplant. She will be turning four in a couple of weeks.

We all know that we were never promised life to be easy..or even fair. However, with God.. there is a peace that passeth all our understandings.. Which even in the hard times.. there is a joy...and a quiet peace.. that causes our hearts to cry.. "It is Well With My Soul" We know that all things work together for good.. For God's purpose.

My Answer:

I have been thinking about this question for quite some time, for years in fact.. A long time ago, a gentleman told my father that he believed Music was Amoral. Meaning that music really doesn't affect you..and can't be bad or good. Basically if you like it then it's good.

When I was younger...things were different. There was more of a respect for right and wrong.. more of a respect for our elders. For Laws.. For the Bible.. For each other.

Music.. is interesting.. As much as we would like to say that Music is not right or wrong.. or have any good or bad affect .. we would be kidding ourselves. Is there bad music? Sure. Is there good music? Of course. Music is powerful. Music can control our emotions.. can dictate.. our actions (at times). So does it matter what you listen to? I think it does. I think everything you choose to do in your life..reflects you. Your heart.

As a mother, I look around at things and realize how far America has fallen down this slide "everything goes". If it feels good then it is right, mentality.

As a Christian nation.. we should be founded on the absolutes. We should teach our children what is right and what is wrong. Even music.. has it's place. Thank you for all your comments last week.. I really appreciate all your kind and encouraging comments about my father and niece.

Buying First Home Brings Great Rewards!

The economy has been in the dumps this last year.. So many people have lost their jobs, small businesses are crumbling, and the housing market has suffered incredibly. It seems we are just waiting for some good news.

Have you heard about the 2010 Homebuyer Tax Credits? I was just reading about it, and it seems to be quite a deal. If you are a first time homebuyer or haven't owned in the last three years, you could qualify for an $8,000 tax credit. Also, Homeowners who have lived in a home consecutively for the 5 of the 8 past years can receive up to a $6,500 tax credit! Is that good news or what???

One thing you need to keep in mind is the Homebuyer Tax Credit will only take affect if you have a written binding contract by April 30, 2010 and close by June 30, 2010. There are some other things to keep in mind, such as the limitation on the price of home which tops at $800,000. There is also income limits. I think when Buying First Home it's probably the largest purchase we make, and making it sure you do all your homework. So Please take some time to read up on this Tax Credit, it may be worth the investment for you and your family!

My Question:

My Dad asked me a question a few weeks ago...that I didn't quite know how to answer... His question: "If you had 2 to 4 years left to live.. what would you do with your life?" You can read my post here to see why Dad asked me this question.

So I will pass this question on to you...

My Answer:

My answer then.. wasn't very structured. And even now.. it's hard to seriously prioritize a life.. picking and choosing what would be more important.. One of the things I told my Dad that day was.. that I think for me.. I might have a few things that I might want to do .. but I think my list would never end. I would find something else.. that I would want to do or see.. or experience.

Probably the most important thing to me would be to spend time with my family.. my husband and kids. Be the woman that God wants me to be.

When I was young, my mother sang a song called "Only One Life". Besides my Mother having an amazing voice, the words to this song have always pierced my heart. Take a moment to read them...
